Falsely convicted in the IRA bombing of an Irish pub, Day-Lewis' Gerry Conlon is coerced into confessing and then struggles both to prove his own innocence and clear his father's name, after the elder Conlon (Pete Postlethwaite) — imprisoned along with his son — dies in jail.
