RELIGION is a driving force for both humans and Cylons
Humanity believes in a polytheistic universe, their gods correlating to what we know as gods of ancient Greece and Rome: Zeus, Aphrodite, Apollo, etc. (''Oh my Gods!'' is a common exclamation.) The spectrum of faith runs the gamut from true believers to atheists, but the promise of Earth, and the path to it, comes directly from Colonial scripture. The Cylons, meanwhile, believe in a One True God, a God of infinite love and understanding — and retribution. Although each humanoid Cylon is more or less its own individual, they all share an equally fervent, near-fundamentalist belief in their God and His plan. They all believe — at least, initially — that God's plan includes the eradication of the imperfect human species.
