First Comic: Amazing Spider-Man #344
It had Rhino on the cover, charging after Spider-Man while he fought a character called Cardiac. It had all kinds of captions on it; it was simply glorious in it's execution. It had ''Is Venom Really dead? More clues inside'' across the top. I didn't even know who Venom was... but man did I want to find out. The captions on the cover really did their job. I was hooked from the moment I saw the cover — I didn't even have to read the book. I was an addict for life just from looking at it. Whoever wrote that cover copy — forgive me for being so dramatic — changed my life forever.
