First Comic: Justice League of America #100
When I was a kid, I was completely indiscriminate in my comics love. I'd read anything with equal fervor, and I had some access to older comics from friends and relatives; humor things like Richie Rich, Unca Scrooge, and Archie, and the very tame horror comics of the day, and even the war and western comics that the guys in my family preferred. But the first comic that really grabbed me and made me a fan was Justice League of America #100, an anniversary issue with a million characters in it that I'd never heard of before. It had all this baffling backstory, all these different superheroes and villains, and multiple worlds and dimensions, and worst of all, it was part one of three. It really hooked me, trying to learn who all these people were. I'd gotten it second-hand, so it was already well off the stands, yet because I didn't know how comics were distributed at the time, I went every day to the local grocery store to see if parts two and three were in yet. It took me ages to find those issues and by that time, I was hooked too deeply, and well on my way to becoming the junkie wretch that I am to this day.
