Comic Books: The One That Hooked Me!

This is likely in late 1970 or early 1971. I can't remember precisely which comic, but I think it was probably Countdown. Both were weeklies that adapted TV shows into comics — Doctor Who, an original strip called Countdown by John Burns that used designs from 2001: A Space Odyssey with permission, the Gerry Anderson stuff like UFO and Thunderbirds. I can remember that night. My dad brought it home for me on the way back from work, and I curled up in an armchair with that thing and was lost. You can draw a straight line from there to here. In fact, to right here today, with my 12-year-old daughter, Lilith, curled up in the back of the car, reading the comics in Doctor Who Adventures magazine....
