Uwe Boll: Cinema's Worst Director?

Boll enters Dungeons and Dragons territory and gets horribly, immediately lost with a blood-drenched tale of monks, castles, talismans, and half-human, half-vampire ''damphirs.'' Despite being scripted by Guinevere Turner (American Psycho), Bloodrayne shares with so much of the Uwe oeuvre a childish devotion to mayhemic plot over characterization. And that leaves the not-untalented cast — Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen, Udo Kier, Kristanna Loken — with precious little to chew on. Madsen, in particular, looks bored throughout, even when being stabbed in the chest. Bloodrayne made back just a tenth of its $25 mil budget in U.S. cinemas and was nominated for six Razzies, including Worst Film and Worst Director.
