BLOODRAYNE (2005)
Boll enters Dungeons and Dragons territory and gets horribly, immediately lost with a blood-drenched tale of monks, castles, talismans, and half-human, half-vampire ''damphirs.'' Despite being scripted by Guinevere Turner (American Psycho), Bloodrayne shares with so much of the Uwe oeuvre a childish devotion to mayhemic plot over characterization. And that leaves the not-untalented cast Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen, Udo Kier, Kristanna Loken with precious little to chew on. Madsen, in particular, looks bored throughout, even when being stabbed in the chest. Bloodrayne made back just a tenth of its $25 mil budget in U.S. cinemas and was nominated for six Razzies, including Worst Film and Worst Director.
