Pearce's insurance fraud investigator, Leonard Shelby, has memory issues of his own in director Christopher Nolan's mind-scramble mystery. In fact, he has no short-term memory at all due to head injuries he suffered during an attack that left his wife dead. He must use Polaroid pictures, copious notes, and tattoos to help him stay on the trail of his wife's murderer.
