ROBIN WILLIAMS
Oscar cred: One win (1997's Good Will Hunting) and three nominations (1987's Good Morning, Vietnam, 1989's Dead Poets Society, and 1991's The Fisher King)
Appeared on SVU: April 29, 2008
Exec producer Neal Baer says: ''Richard Belzer [Detective Munch] is friends with Robin, and said he might want to do the show. We came up with a story that we hoped would entice him. It's kind of based on the Milgram experiments. He plays an audio engineer, who has profound problems with authority, and who gets people to do very naughty, nasty things. It's a story about what makes people do things if they think that they won't be responsible.''
Exec producer Ted Kotcheff adds: ''Robin would do the most amazing riffs [between takes]. I could hardly see, the tears were in my eyes. When it was time to roll, he'd immediately switch into character, six levels deep.''
