If songwriter Stevie Wonder's slinky, descending chord progressions, the band's just-off-the-beat rhythm, and Chaka Khan's barely controlled contralto (with vocoder interludes!) aren't the sound of sex pressed directly onto vinyl, no pop ever has been.
