BLAZING SADDLES (1974)
In what may be Mel Brooks' funniest movie, the spoof auteur manages to parody Western genre conventions (while paying homage as well, particularly to Destry Rides Again); makes some pointed social commentary about race relations (thanks in part to co-screenwriter Richard Pryor); and in the notorious bean-supper scene opens the floodgates to four decades and counting of gross-out humor.
