EVENT HORIZON (1997)
WHAT IT'S ABOUT: A ship that's been missing for seven years has mysteriously reappeared in orbit around Neptune, and Captain Miller (Laurence Fishburne) leads a crew to find out what happened.
WHY IT DOESN'T WORK: Again, beware of the spoiler, but the best that the writers could come up with was ''Yeah, the Event Horizon went through a black hole and brought hell back with it''? There's just something kind of boring about that. Sure, it makes for a lot of spook, but it feels so horror-flick uninspired.
