THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK (2004)
WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Hell if I know. Seriously. I think it has something to do with a Galactus-like race called Necromongers, who sweep through space and destroy every civilization they come in contact with. And, somehow, Riddick (Vin Diesel) growls them to a halt.
WHY IT DOESN'T WORK: When Pitch Black came out in 2000, it was a smart, svelte little sci-fi thriller. The sequel, on the other hand, is silly and bloated, trading the economy of the first film for a pompous self-importance that didn't do it any favors. What's worse, it ruined the awesomely amoral Riddick as a character.
