REIGN OF FIRE (2002)
Flame-spewing dragons are back and have left the planet a scorched wasteland by 2020. Luckily, humanity's got the bald, scenery-chewing, cigar-chomping McConaughey on our side — even if he doesn't show up until a third of the way into this unexpected sci-fi gem. But when he arrives, he fully (and bravely) commits to an over-the-top role as muscled Kentucky military man Denton Van Zan, who rides a tank like a horse and concocts a plan to take down the progenitor of the winged killing machines (with a little help from Christian Bale). His screaming cowabunga final assault is one for the books.
Texas drawl? Yes. Great line: ''Men, get ready to rock and roll. We got a dragon to kill!''
