23. MEMENTO (2001)
Memento is that rare indie: a small oddity that somehow manages to outdazzle films that cost much more to make. Telling the story (backward, if you recall) of a noir hero afflicted with short-term memory loss, the movie reinvented film form at the same time it launched Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight), who's now one of Hollywood's craftiest big-budget directors.
