Even a year after the Summer of Love, Carlin was still short-haired in this very conventional Doris Day-Brian Keith family comedy. He was light comic relief as Herbie Fleck, a carhop; Carlin got what laughs he could from the pallid script via his droll double takes, not from the punch lines he didn't write himself. —Ken Tucker
