Reese Witherspoon is very animated (cue rim shot) about her next project, Monsters vs. Aliens, a 3-D DreamWorks adventure (out March 27) that pits a motley crew of monsters against creatures from outer space. ''I'm the brawn behind the operation,'' she says of her character, Ginormica, a monster who more than lives up to her name: ''I'm a 49-foot-woman, so I can tackle anyone.
''They showed me a concept of how she would look. She had a soft, feminine thing going on, like Marilyn Monroe,'' says Witherspoon of her animated alter ego. ''I thought that was really cool.''
