''Pure freedom'' is how Toni Collette describes 16- year-old T, one of three identities her character Tara assumes on Showtime's new comedy series, The United States of Tara debuting Jan. 18. Tara also morphs into a gun-loving macho man and a perfectionist housewife, all while trying to keep it together as a mom of two and wife to Max (played by John Corbett, far right).
''All of the alters represent a suppressed element that lives within Tara. I love them all!'' says Collette, who can't pick a favorite of Tara's multiple personalities.
