When Guillermo del Toro was growing up in Guadalajara, Mexico, he slept with a stuffed mutant werewolf that he'd made himself, with help from his grandmother. Now he's one of Hollywood's most buzzed-about new auteurs. His latest movie, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, opens July 11. And soon the director, 43, will relocate to New Zealand to begin the first of two films from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. On the following screens, he gives us a guided tour of his formative influences.
