Cocky Detective Logan has always had a short fuse, so it was hardly surprising when he punched out a homophobic councilman. But it was a surprise when, after five seasons on the TV force, he got banished to Staten Island, a fate pretty close to death. Before we knew it, Noth was replaced by Benjamin Bratt, and creator Dick Wolf (who finally commuted Noth's sentence 10 years later, bringing him onto Law & Order: Criminal Intent) had set the stage for a revolving door of cast members. And Noth served as a lesson to all of them: Before seeking higher pay, remember that you are replaceable.
