THE POWER OF ONE (1992)
''I wanted to do choirs and percussion only. I tried to do it here with gospel choirs, and it sounded like gospel music. The producer said to me, 'It's not working because you're not doing what you really wanted to do,' which was record in Africa. That was on a Thursday, and on Monday, I was in Africa with my friend Lebo M in a warehouse with these amazing choirs. It was truly a warehouse. We did the whole thing with one microphone. It was pretty staggering, and it really laid the groundwork for The Lion King.''
