1981: Metallica forms in Los Angeles with Lars Ulrich on drums and James Hetfield on vocals, guitar, and bass for their first recorded track. Hetfield's buddy Ron McGovney eventually takes over on bass, and Dave Mustaine takes over on lead guitar.
