A couple years ago, I decided to dress up as Joanna from Chotchkie's [from Office Space] for Halloween. I tracked down precisely 15 pieces of flair, borrowed a friend's waitress pad and crafted a shirt that unbuttoned a bit lower than Joanna's official uniform (for the tips, obv). The night before Halloween, a boy asked me to be his date to his fraternity's annual ''Boo Ball.'' I knew the party would be a great time, but dates were supposed to wear corresponding costumes and I couldn't imagine he'd want to go dressed as Peter Gibbons...
The next night, he showed up at my door promptly at 8 — dressed in full Bill Lumbergh regalia!!! He'd even brought a red stapler and a coffee mug. My roommates were dying laughing, and he didn't drop character until an hour or so into the party. We were a hit and even won the costume contest out of a hundred or so couples. I'd love to reuse the costume someday, but I just don't think it would be the same without good ol' Bill! —Rachel L. Connors
