Obviously, it was a momentous occasion for Americans of all ages, races, and creeds. Crowds lined up hours in advance, braving freezing temperatures, waiting to witness history. That's right, we're talking about the Jan. 14 release of issue #583 of The Amazing Spider-Man, in which the webbed crusader joins forces with Barack Obama. Mobs of comics fans (and Obama supporters) snapped up Marvel's entire first printing the instant it went on sale.
Of course, six days later, on Jan. 20, there was another superheroic event involving Obama.
