NIPPLEGATE
During halftime of the 2004 Super Bowl, Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake entertained together, singing a medley of ''All for You,'' ''Rhythm Nation,'' and ''Rock Your Body.'' And just as Timberlake belted out the lyrics ''I'm gonna have you naked by the end of this song,'' he pulled off part of Jackson's bustier, revealing her breast and a nipple shield that the entire nation saw for about a second. Timberlake quickly apologized for the so-called ''wardrobe malfunction,'' and again during his acceptance speech at the Grammy Awards, but Jackson — who issued two apologies on her own — declined to attend the ceremony after CBS insisted she apologize a third time on the air. Five years later, the case still hasn't been closed, as an appeal over the fine that was eventually slapped on CBS is still bouncing around the courts.
