Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey Team Up
The two Texas-born actors are joining forces for HBO's True Detective, an eight-episode anthology series directed by Cary Fukunaga about two cops — pessimist Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey, right) and emotional family man Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson, left) — on a 17-year hunt for a serial killer. ''It's more about the detectives than it is about the killer,'' explains writer and executive producer Nic Pizzolatto, who notes that the show, which is set to debut in early 2014, starts with the murders in 1995 and follows the twists and turns from there. ''We trace both the case and the relationship [between the cops] and how they change — or don't change — as the years progress.'' Pizzolatto describes the series (currently shooting in Louisiana) as a realistic adult drama, but says that McConaughey and Harrelson keep the mood light when the cameras aren't rolling.
