Gina Carano, Haywire

With a little bit of creative editing — and a whole lot of wire-removing digital effects — just about any model-perfect actress can look like an action-movie star nowadays. (That's just as true for men: Think of adorable heartthrob James McAvoy pretending to be Jet Li in Wanted.) But when Steven Soderbergh turned on his television and saw Gina Carano fighting in a Mixed Martial Arts bout, he had a hot idea: Why not build an action movie around a woman who actually could kick your butt? In Haywire, Carano might get beaten up, but she never backs down — even when her combatants are tall überdudes like Michael Fassbender and Channing Tatum.
