Gina Carano, Haywire
With a little bit of creative editing and a whole lot of wire-removing digital effects just about any model-perfect actress can look like an action-movie star nowadays. (That's just as true for men: Think of adorable heartthrob James McAvoy pretending to be Jet Li in Wanted.) But when Steven Soderbergh turned on his television and saw Gina Carano fighting in a Mixed Martial Arts bout, he had a hot idea: Why not build an action movie around a woman who actually could kick your butt? In Haywire, Carano might get beaten up, but she never backs down even when her combatants are tall überdudes like Michael Fassbender and Channing Tatum.
