Tim Allen stars as a reluctant Santa who inherits the big job when the old guy falls off Allen's roof. Encouraged by his Christmas-loving son, we see the transformation from hard-edged divorced Dad into the smiling, bearded guy we all know and love. Allen proved so popular with kids — and their parents — that there were also two less-spectacular sequels: The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006).—Erin Strecker
