WHY HE'S HOT The 24-year-old Mayer, who pointedly titled his debut ''Room for Squares,'' is about as uncool as MTV artists get (move over Ben Folds) -- he represents dorky suburban males everywhere. His jazzy guitar-pop is equally at odds with trends, but teens have connected with the single ''No Such Thing,'' which imagines a triumphant return to high school. Plus, Mayer is considered something of a hottie by his female fans.
