Jennifer GarnerThe good news is, Jennifer Garner does not have a viral infection, contrary to earlier reports from her spokeswoman, Nicole King. The bad news: she's actually suffering from nerve damage to her back, King now says. Entertainment Tonight quotes King as saying that Garner's doctors attribute her ailment to an injury suffered during shooting of an Alias episode.
When King first announced Garner's illness on Monday, she said she expected the 32-year-old actress to be sidelined for a week, making her likely to miss this weekend's premiere of her film Elektra in Las Vegas. USA Today quotes King's revised statement on Wednesday as saying, ''Her doctors have ordered her to take it easy.'' Still, King added, Garner will travel to Las Vegas after all, walking the red carpet for the premiere but not talking to reporters gathered for the press junket for the movie, which opens a week later, on Jan. 14. She'll also attend the Golden Globes on Jan. 16, where she's up for Best Actress in a TV Drama for Alias. It wasn't clear if her doctors thought the nerve damage was permanent, or whether it would affect filming on the action-intensive spy series, whose fourth season premiered on Wednesday.
