What happens when Gilmore Girls' resident troubadour, Grant Lee Phillips, gets picked to open for Neil Young in the May 9 season finale? Why, it's a Stars Hollow Troubapalooza! Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, Joe Pernice, the ultra-reclusive Sparks, and also 24's Chloe, Mary Lynn Rasjkub, show up strummin' and singin', also hoping to be ''discovered.''
In an exclusive EW interview with Gilmore creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, she says of the finale's plot details that the relationship between Lauren Graham's Lorelai and Scott Patterson's Luke ''is reaching a boiling point. Lorelai goes to a dinner at her parents' house, where [mother] Emily has invited a surprise guest who helps push Lorelai to finally confront Luke about their long-stalled engagement.''
Meanwhile, Alexis Bledel's Rory has her own dilemma. Rory's hoity-toity boy-toy, Logan (Matt Czuchry), has graduated from Yale, notes Sherman-Palladino. ''Rory is dealing with their last night together before he goes to London to start working for one of his father's newspapers. And Rory finally gets a chance to confront Mitchum Huntzberger (Logan's father) face to face'' for dissing her newspaper skills and general character over the course of the season.
Is this the end of Lorelai-and-Luke? Of Rory-and-Logan? (Keep in mind, one of Rory's ex's, Jess, played by Milo Ventimiglia, might be free now that the actor's new series, The Bedford Diaries, looks dead on arrival.'' Hey, hey, my, my! Looks like sparks are gonna fly!
