Season 2 is busting out Aug. 21, but don't expect the jailbirds to make a clean getaway. Here, an exclusive scene from an upcoming episode of Fox's hit.
THE RAT RACE
Finding his fiancée is priority No. 1, but when Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) and the others are ''hit by the fact that the manhunt is so
massive,'' says Prison Break exec producer Matt Olmstead, it's clear that
''trying to get in touch with family is a risky endeavor.'' Even if
corrupt guard Bellick (Wade Williams) is fired, ''that wouldn't prevent
him from being a self-deputized bounty hunter,'' Olmstead adds.
STAY OF EXECUTION
Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) is ''grateful his date with the electric
chair is on hold indefinitely,'' says Olmstead of the death-row inmate.
''But there's still a real weight on him.'' With his ex-wife dead and his
son, LJ (Marshall Allman), arrested and framed for her murder, ''he's
guilt-ridden. But there's a simmering vengeance. This is the first time
he's been out on the streets for a while.''
BURIED TREASURE
''If the news goes out that the Fox River 8 are on the loose, he's going
to have some explaining to do,'' says Olmstead of C-Note (Rockmond
Dunbar), whose family thinks he's in Iraq. Speaking of
explanations, what are the boys digging up? ''It's bigger than a bread
box,'' hints Olmstead. C'mon, is it animal, vegetable, or mineral? ''I'll
call it mineral.''
GRAVE IMAGES
In the flashback episode ''Brother's Keeper,'' ''there's an image of
Michael [Wentworth Miller] looking at a headstone. We teased that
last year, so this is the payoff,'' promises Olmstead. Michael's got a
new nemesis at the start of season 2, FBI agent Alex Mahone (Invasion's
William Fichtner), who's ''the flip side of Michael...the Tommy Lee Jones
guy,'' Olmstead notes.
MOB STORY
Abruzzi (Peter Stormare) failed to provide the escapees with a
jet, but the Mob boss still wants the info Michael promised in
return the whereabouts of snitch Fibonacci. Does the threat of nemesis
T-Bag (Robert Knepper) have Abruzzi looking over his shoulder? ''T-Bag's
got a list of priorities,'' says Olmstead. ''Addressing his severed hand
[which Abruzzi lopped off] is at the top of it.''
