The clock is ticking for 24: Legacy, the continuation of the world that originated with Jack Bauer’s (Kiefer Sutherland) very, very bad days.
Let’s just clear one thing up: 24: Legacy is not a reboot.
“We’re not saying reboot,” Jimmy Smits clarified when the cast visited EW’s lounge at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.
“It’s a new edition,” costar Miranda Otto added.
“It’s an expansion of the world, so I think it’s literally everything that everyone loves about the old show and the format of it,” Corey Hawkins said. “You get to see these new characters deal with these problems alongside the ticking clock.”
Don’t call 24: Legacy a reboot.
That was the party line during the Fox series’ Comic-Con panel on Sunday afternoon, where the executive producers and cast revealed that the characters of 24: Legacy exist in the same universe as Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer.
Meet Eric Carter. Straight Outta Compton star Corey Hawkins takes the lead in a new 24 reboot series from Fox called 24: Legacy, and the network revealed the first image of the actor striking a familiar pose.
Three more actors are joining Fox’s 24 reboot – including an Emmy-winner best known from ABC’s Scandal.
Dan Bucatinsky (The Comeback) has joined the almost-certain-to-be-greenlit 24: Legacy pilot in a series regular role, along with Coral Pena (Blue Bloods) and Charlie Hofheimer (Mad Men). Bucatinsky’s Scandal character James Novak was famously killed off on Scandal in 2014 after he won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor for the role.
The cast of Fox’s 24 reboot is really coming together: Now Jimmy Smits has signed on for a major role.
The Emmy-winning Smits (Dexter, Sons of Anarchy) has joined the 24: Legacy pilot as “a powerful U.S. Senator with higher political aspirations, who is married to the blazing smart former head of the Counter Terrorist Unit (Miranda Otto).”
The Flash is speeding over to Fox’s 24 reboot.
Teddy Sears – who plays Jay Garrick, a.k.a Earth-2’s version of The Flash on The CW hit – is joining the cast of 24: Legacy.
Fox’s 24 reboot has added Anna Diop to the roster, EW has confirmed.
Starring alongside Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead) and Miranda Otto (Homeland), the 28-year-old will take on a significant role as Nicole, military hero Eric Carter’s (Hawkins) wife.
Miranda Otto has been cast as the female lead in Fox’s 24 reboot.
The Lord of the Rings actress is coming off her mesmerizing arc during the fifth season of 24 producer Howard Gordon’s other terrorism thriller, Showtime’s Homeland. In the 24: Legacy pilot, she’ll play Rebecca Ingram, the “blazing smart former head of CTU. Now married to Senator John Donovan (not yet cast), Rebecca is struggling with second thoughts about having left counterterrorism agency.”
