It was a meeting of Weekend Update hosts when Colin Jost stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday night. Jost, of course, was still in the midst of preparations for this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Larry David. David, of course, was once an SNL writer like Jost and Meyers.

“It’s just the coolest thing as a writer when you come back and you’re hosting, you’re so happy that someone else is writing for you,” Jost said. “And he’s just the coolest dude.”

Colin Jost says he stepped down as SNL co-head writer to focus 'on the creative elements again'

Working for America’s most popular sketch comedy show is likely stressful in any capacity. But for Colin Jost, the demand of his former head writer job got in the way of his creativity.

“The managerial part of the [head writer] job of dealing with the staff and managing a staff is very stressful,” Jost told NPR Tuesday. “It runs contrary to how you think as a performer.”
