Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 releases first teaser trailer, poster

They’re back.

Marvel released the first teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on Wednesday, a brief look at the forthcoming sequel from director James Gunn.

The teaser includes the familiar refrain of Blue Swede’s “Hooked on a Feeling,” and glimpses of stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, and Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper).

The trailer came moments after director James Gunn tweeted out the first teaser poster for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which arrives in theaters on May 5, 2017.

Guardians of the Galaxy director promises strong stories for women in sequel

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn took to his Facebook page on International Day of the Girl to promise the upcoming sequel will feature prominent storylines for the film’s female characters.

In his post on Tuesday, Gunn lamented the trope of the sole strong female character in movies, and promised Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will “run over” the Bechdel Test.

Guarding the galaxy is not for the faint of heart — just ask James Gunn.

On Tuesday the filmmaker tweeted about a new report ranking his 2014 Marvel blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy as the movie with the largest body count ever depicted on screen.

“So I guess #GotG is now the deadliest film in movie history,” Gunn wrote. “By, like, a lot. Um, yay?” He added a flushed-face emoji.
