Drive, the deliriously bloody and overwrought Ryan Gosling art thriller that premiered two years ago at Cannes, is a movie that I found stylish in its way (it was hard not to, given that the film was nothing but style), but also luridly unconvincing.

New 'Only God Forgives' trailer: 'Time to meet the devil' -- NSFW VIDEO

The newest, neon-mottled trailer for Nicolas Winding Refns’ Only God Forgives confirms what we already knew — Thailand, revenge, Ryan Gosling — and gives us more of it. Kristin Scott Thomas looks very angry in various chairs. Vithaya Pansringarm swings a long, sharp sword. Gosling, on a quest to avenge the death of his brother, asks, “Wanna fight?” It all looks gorgeous — and very, very violent. Here alone we see a woman’s body, slick with blood; Gosling’s hands, slick with blood; and a woman’s face through a beaded curtain that looks like blood.
