It’s been a long journey on the road to The Defenders, the Avengers-like miniseries event for Netflix that brings together the heroes of Hell’s Kitchen. Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV, took New York Comic Con attendees on a trip through memory lane Saturday, screening a sizzle reel that recapped all that’s happened since Daredevil season 1 and capping with the final piece of the puzzle: Danny Rand, a.k.a. Iron Fist.
The final Defender has arrived.
At New York Comic Con on Saturday night, Netflix released a new teaser trailer for its forthcoming series Marvel’s Iron Fist, starring Finn Jones (Game of Thrones) as the title hero.
One of the many surprises during the Luke Cage panel on Thursday at Comic-Con was the debut of a first trailer for Iron Fist.
Starring Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones as the title character, Iron Fist focuses on Danny Rand, who was trained by denizens of the mystical K’un-L’un, and his origins as the crimefighting superhero.
Iron Fist just lawyered up. Marvel has announced that Carrie-Anne Moss will appear in the upcoming Netflix series, reprising her role as the shrewd attorney Jeri Hogarth.
Moss’ character was first introduced in Jessica Jones as an associate of Krysten Ritter’s titular private investigator; she also appeared in the season 2 finale of Daredevil.
Marvel’s Iron Fist has added a few branches to the Meachum family tree. EW can confirm that 90120 actress Jessica Stroup has been cast as Joy Meachum in the Netflix series, and Tom Pelphrey of Banshee and Guiding Light has been cast as her brother, Ward Meachum.
Marvel’s newest superhero is undergoing round-the-clock training for the role of billionaire warrior-monk Iron Fist, aka Daniel Rand. Exceptional instruction is arguably needed to portray Rand, whose origin story is all intense training rather than supersuits or scientific breakthroughs. As fans of the comic know, after his family meets a tragic fate while on expedition in China, a young Rand is adopted by the people of the mystical lost city of K’un-Lun, where he’s taught a magical fighting style.
Marvel’s next superhero series is getting a transplant from Middle Earth. Netflix announced Monday that David Wenham has been cast in the upcoming Iron Fist.
Wenham, who played Faramir in two Lord of the Rings films, will take on the role of Harold Meachum, a business partner of protagonist Danny Rand’s parents at the time of their deaths. In the comic books, Harold Meachum serves as an antagonist to Danny Rand’s Iron Fist.
Marvel’s Iron Fist has found its female lead – and she’s also from HBO’s Game of Thrones!
Jessica Henwick has landed the coveted role of martial arts expert Colleen Wing in the Netflix series. A martial arts expert running her own dojo, Colleen will serve as an invaluable ally to Iron Fist, aka Danny Rand (Finn Jones), as he returns to his life in New York.
Netflix’s Defenders are almost complete as the character of Danny Rand (a.k.a. Iron Fist) is preparing to join Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage. Marvel TV head Joe Quesada is teasing a highly unique series that will offer a different take on Hell’s Kitchen.
