Brooklyn Nine-Nine premiere includes Maya Rudolph, Failure to Launch nod

Summer is almost officially over, but Brooklyn Nine-Nine will still be bringing the heat when it returns tonight. Why? Because we’re headed right back to Florida.

The season 4 premiere resumes the action where it left off at the end of the season 3 premiere, with Holt (Andre Braugher) and Jake (Andy Samberg) hiding out in Coral Palms as part of the witness protection plan to avoid being killed by Jimmy “The Butcher” Figgis. Their contact? An intense U.S. Marshal played by… Samberg’s former SNL castmate, Maya Rudolph.

Emma Stone & Maya Rudolph's a cappella cover of 'Call Your Girlfriend' is amazing

Back in October of 2011, three Swedish women – part of the group Erato – performed an a cappella cover of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” using empty tubs of butter and hand claps to keep the beat. (Think of it as “Cups” from Pitch Perfect before Pitch Perfect was a thing.) The video and its copies have received millions of views since then, including one or two courtesy of Maya Rudolph.

The season finale of Maya & Marty will feature a healthy dose of Kelly & Emma.

Kelly Ripa and Emma Stone will guest-star on the July 12 episode of Maya Rudolph and Martin Short’s sketch comedy, EW has learned.

Ripa appears in an edition of “Jiminy Glick’s Celebrity Sensations,” which earlier this week put Jerry Seinfeld in the Q&A hot seat.

Also popping up are Steve Martin and Sean Hayes, who appeared in earlier episodes this season.

On Tuesday’s episode of Maya & Marty, Seinfeld and Glick, the talk-show host alter ego of Martin Short, sat down for an interview that left the former Seinfeld star in stitches.

“You’re still around… ish,” Glick said of Seinfeld’s fame as the comic cracked up. “The same way Jimmy Carter is with us.”

Jackie Chan joins cast of The Nut Job 2

After lending his voice to characters in the Kung Fu Panda films and Monkey King: Hero is Back, Jackie Chan is again returning to the realm of animation as he’s set to voice a “highly territorial leader of a gang of city mice” in the upcoming sequel The Nut Job 2.

Chan boards the project alongside Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph, and Katherine Heigl, who are reprising their roles as Surly, Precious, and Andie, respectively. Cal Brunker will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Scott Bindley and Bob Barlen.

Maya Rudolph & Kenan Thompson reprise SNL characters to serenade Seth Meyers' baby

Back in 2008, Amy Poehler had a baby on a Saturday, causing quite a scramble for that evening’s Saturday Night Live. Without Poehler to co-anchor Weekend Update with him, Seth Meyers recruited Maya Rudolph and Kenan Thompson. The duo parodied ’70s soul singers as characters T.T. and Mario to serenade Poehler and her baby. According to Meyers, it’s one of his favorite SNL things ever.
