Michael Caine on Oscars: 'You can't vote for an actor because he's black'

Michael Caine is the latest star to weigh in on the diversity issues at the Academy Awards.

In an interview with Nick Robinson for BBC Radio 4, Caine was asked about “the argument going on in Hollywood at the moment, that not enough black actors – in fact, none – have been nominated for this year’s Oscars.”

Michael Caine and Ridley Scott are headed to AFI Fest

AFI Fest is mounting a British invasion. The festival has added conversations with Michael Caine and Ridley Scott and a dual tribute to Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay to its programming slate, organizers announced Monday.

Caine and director Paolo Sorrentino (The Great Beauty) will discuss their new film Youth, in which Caine portrays a retired composer reflecting on his life and work while vacationing in the Swiss Alps with his best friend (Harvey Keitel).
