  • Me and Earl and the Dying Girl star Olivia Cooke is ready to press start on Ready Player One, Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ernest Cline’s retro-futuristic sci-fi novel. The 21-year-old British actress will play the female lead, Art3mis, in the near-future tale about an ’80s-themed treasure hunt set inside an advanced virtual-reality game. Warner Bros. will release the film Dec. 15, 2017.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’s Greg (Thomas Mann) is doing his best to survive high school, making sure that just about everyone likes him—or at least, doesn’t notice him. It doesn’t earn him many close friends, but it helps him get by.

They are all experimental cases who are being examined by scientists to find the cure for a fungal spore that has infected the planet. Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) will direct with shooting starting in May.
