Thirty-six years after its release, Stanley Kubrick’s movie The Shining has achieved the status of a true horror classic, one which continues to inspire up-and-coming directors like The Witch filmmaker Robert Eggers, who recently told this writer that the “smell” of the Jack Nicholson-starring Stephen King adaptation was all over his own recent hit movie.
