Bennett Miller, Tom Stoppard to adapt A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol is headed to the big screen — again. 

Director Bennett Miller (Foxcatcher) and screenwriter Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love) are working on a new adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ novella, EW has confirmed. Set in 1843, the classic follows the ill-tempered Ebenezer Scrooge as he finds redemption on Christmas Eve through his encounters with the ghosts of the holiday’s past, present, and future.

Maggie Gyllenhaal to join Ewan McGregor in 'The Real Thing' on Broadway this fall

Despite appearances in a handful of Off Broadway shows over the past five years, Maggie Gyllenhaal has never appeared on Broadway – that is, until this upcoming fall season, when she will play the coveted role of Annie in Tom Stoppard’s award-winning play The Real Thing opposite the previously announced Ewan McGregor as Henry.
