Amazon dropped all 10 episodes of the third season of Transparent on Sept. 23. To welcome the Pfefferman family back (and hopefully help series creator Jill Soloway topple the patriarchy), we’re bingeing and recapping every single episode from the new season. There are two recaps per page, and we’ll be adding as we watch, so feel free to dive in and check back each day.
The characters of Amazon’s Transparent had a whirlwind second season, as Maura found companionship and acceptance. But that doesn’t mean the drama is over for the Pfefferman family in season 3. In fact, creator Jill Soloway promises the opposite.
“Things don’t really get easier for any of the Pfeffermans,” she tells EW in an interview. “I think if they got easier, the show wouldn’t be good anymore. So, things just keep getting harder.”
After two seasons, Transparent viewers are well aware of Sarah Pfefferman’s (Amy Landecker) penchant for self sabotage due to narcissism. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that her latest attempt to figure it all out goes awry.
Maura (Jeffrey Tambor) breaks the glass ceiling in Transparent’s latest season — or rather, the glass wall.
In an exclusive clip from the Amazon half-hour, Maura tells Josh (Jay Duplass), “I am a Jewish woman, Joshy, and Jewish women do whatever they want.” And in this case, doing whatever she wants means smashing a glass divider as her shocked son watches on. Don’t worry, though: She makes sure to cover his head in a protective trash can before making the mess.
Following her win for best directing for a comedy series at the 2016 Emmy Awards, Transparent creator Jill Soloway equated Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to Hitler, calling him a “dangerous monster.”
Transparent creator Jill Soloway made a powerful statement when she accepted the Emmy for best directing for a comedy series on Sunday night.
“[Directing] is a privilege and it also creates privilege when you take women women, people of color, trans people, queer people and you put them at the center of a story, the subjects instead of the objects,” she said when accepting the award.
Since Transparent announced Caitlyn Jenner would be playing a part in the Amazon show’s next season, details about the celebrity’s role have been slowly but surely trickling in.
All hail Jeffrey Tambor.
The veteran actor continued his reign as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series at the 68th annual Emmy Awards in Los Angeles Sunday. He won the golden statuette for the second year in a row for his role as Maura Pfefferman on Transparent. In the process, he delivered an impassioned plea to Hollywood to give transgender talent more opportunities.
Amazon has released a new trailer for the third season of Transparent!
As revealed at the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Sunday, season 3 will revolve around the theme of coming out of your shell and will feature flashbacks to Maura (Jeffrey Tambor) in 1958, exploring what it means to be a 12-year-old in the wrong body.
Amazon has set premiere dates for Transparent, Man in the High Castle, and Woody Allen’s new comedy, Crisis in Six Scenes, among others.
As announced at the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Sunday, Transparent’s third season will kick off Sept. 23 (watch the trailer here), a week after the debut of British comedy Fleabag, created by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge, which bows Sept. 16 on Prime Video.
