Vanessa Hudgens to star in NBC's superhero comedy pilot

Vanessa Hudgens is staging a return to series television. The Spring Breakers actress and former Disney Channel star has signed on to star in an NBC comedy pilot titled Powerless – about regular people living in a world of annoyingly powerful superheroes.  

The show is set at “one of the worst insurance companies in America — with the twist being that it also takes place in the universe of DC Comics. The show is about the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains.”

Stars send support to Vanessa Hudgens after her father’s death

Just a few hours before she takes the stage for Sunday’s broadcast of Grease: Live, Vanessa Hudgens announced on Twitter that her father, Greg, died of cancer on Saturday. Hudgens, who is starring as Rizzo, added that she’ll be dedicating her performance to him, and a number of costars, friends, and fans reached out on social media to share their support.
