Each week, we break down the biggest moments from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Black Lightning, and Arrow — both here on EW.com and on SiriusXM’s EW Live every Friday during Superhero Insider.
This week, Supergirl kicked off its nine-week hiatus. In its stead, Legends of Tomorrow returned with a new addition on the Waverider. With The Flash and Arrow off during the Olympics, Black Lightning was the only other superhero to air this week, and raised a few questions. Here are the highlights:
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow
Though fans had long hoped the series would someday circle back around to Captain Canary, it was at least heartwarming to see Leo Snart (Wentworth Miller) be the one to point out to Sara (Caity Lotz) that Ava (Jes Macallan) clearly has feelings for her, leading to one of the best lines from this Earth-2 doppelgänger about the fact that Sara is very attractive: “Gay, not blind.” While Snart’s exit was a bit unceremonious, it did remind viewers of the dynamic chemistry Miller shared with just about everyone on the Waverider, particularly his former partner in crime, Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell), who had the second-best line of the night with this Mick-ism: “His girlfriend’s a guy.” Hopefully it’s not the last we’ve seen of Leo. —Natalie Abrams

Okay, it’s time for me to admit that I was wrong. When Peter Gambi (James Remar) deleted footage of Tobias Whale (Marvin Jones III) a few episodes back, I assumed he did it because he was trying to protect Jefferson from going after Tobias again and getting himself killed. But, Gambi and Tobias’ tense meeting in this week’s episode suggests there’s definitely more going on — namely that Gambi has known Tobias was alive and well in Freeland all along. This raises quite a few questions: Why does Gambi know Tobias is alive? How much does he know about the serum that’s stopping Tobias from aging? Why did he help keep Tobias’ fate a secret? What exactly is Gambi’s role in Freeland? Why is the tailor one of the most important people in the city? As both Tobias and Jefferson state in the episode, Gambi knows everything that’s going on in the city; however, given his connection to Tobias, I wonder what else he knows about Freeland’s underworld and whether or not he’s more connected to it than we (and Jefferson) previously thought. —Chancellor Agard
