Netflix has added Billy Eichner to its growing stand-up special roster!

Eichner confirmed on Twitter that he is indeed taking his first ever stand-up special to Netflix. Not only that, but it might even include some new Billy on the Street material.

“I’m coming out of retirement!!!” tweeted Eichner. “Beyond excited to announce I’ll be doing my first special for Netflix. (Which could include some brand new Billy on the Street….) More info soon……”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, which first broke the news, the special will include “a unique blend of comedy and music that will cover politics, pop culture.” Filming and release dates have yet to be set.

This isn’t the first time the loud funny-man has worked with the streaming service. Eichner recurred on the comedy Friends from College, which premiered last summer. He is most well known for his viral-video generating comedy series Billy on the Street, which earned him his first Emmy nomination in 2017 and ran on truTV for two years. He also starred alongside Julie Klausner on Hulu’s Difficult People, which was canceled after its third season.

Netflix has been making an aggressive push into stand-up comedy specials recently. Yesterday, it was announced that Steve Martin and Martin Short were bringing their own special to the service. The streamer is home to Chris Rock’s first stand-up special in a decade, as well as ones from Dave Chappelle, Amy Schumer, Jerry Seinfeld, Judd Apatow, and many more.
