A powerful performance of The Greatest Showman’s “This Is Me” brought the Oscar audience to its feet.
Greatest Showman star Keala Settle took the stage at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday to perform the earworm anthem. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (who won an Oscar last year for La La Land’s “City of Stars”) cowrote the song, which was nominated for Best Original Song, alongside Coco’s “Remember Me,” Call Me By Your Name’s “Mystery of Love,” Marshall’s “Stand Up for Something,” and Mudbound’s “Mighty River.” (“Remember Me” won.)
Not only did the performance have audience members like Viola Davis clapping, but Settle’s costars Zendaya and Zac Efron also applauded her on Twitter.
The Greatest Showman, which stars Hugh Jackman and tells the story of circus impresario P.T. Barnum, has become a breakout hit, earning more than $375.8 million worldwide since it hit theaters in December. The soundtrack has also topped the Billboard 200 and the iTunes charts.
